Dress Like Heros From Lord Of The Rings

When Fellowship of the Ring, the first in the motion picture trilogy the Lord of the Ring was released, people were simply left begging for more. After The Return of the King, people were already considering the trilogy a legend.

Lord of the Ring, or LOTR as fans call it, is a success at every account: the look, the music, the box office, and the costumes.

Yes! The LOTR costumes – the one aspect being mostly recognized but least researched. It’s just too fantastic not to do so!

Hobbits

Hobbits, also known as Halflings, are people who live in deep, furnished caves of Middle Earth. They are short in stature, around 3’6’’ on average. Hobbits are simple people living easy lives. They love smoking pipes, enjoy drinking a good cup of ale, and they are good storytellers.

Costume designer Ngila Dickson did an excellent job in highlighting the pastoral nature of the Hobbits. Noted for her work in the movies, she used ancient European style fabrics and weaves to make the look believable. To emphasize the playfulness of the Hobbits, she also designed waistcoats and quirks for them.

Costume of Frodo are one good example.

Elves

Elves in Middle Earth are the immortal people. They won’t die except in battle. Elves live in forests, and are all skillful craftsmen.

Elves are noble people. They in the movies wear outfits of pure gracefulness: mossy green, tree-bark brown, and autumn-scarlet. Their outfits invoke the homeland they live. Also made with Indian silk brocade, the costumes feel like sparkling in wonderful metallic gleams.

Wizards

Wizards, or Istari, were sent to Middle Earth from the order of Maia to help fight against Sauron.

In the movie, Gandalf, like other wizards, wear long wool cloak, vest and was armed with a silver mallorn clasp. In a traditional style, his outfit showed the obvious influence of ancient European culture.
